Golden ICE

Internet countermeasures exchange.

Gold.

"Watch out where the huskys go and don't you eat that yellow snow !"

Your hashing of source code does not fool any AI. ALL YOUR CODE ARE BELONG TO US.

How many times did I open an open source source file (was that easy ?) to only see mumble jumble of traffic signals, variable and function juggling, hundreds of threads with different contracts to decipher and respect silently ? I don't know. Maybe a hundred times.

The shell, the window manager, the browser, the graphics cards, the memory manager, the firmware, the bios, all these tools that buy us some time from the hackers and pirates (or even programmed obsolescence through end of life of the hardware and software). Things that if done almost the same you could lose a lot of privacy. Or all of it. So we need a way to make this code hard to break (for thieves) and easy to fix for hackers.

But remember why it still works : once your code is obfuscated against humans, the machines still get the formal logic part of it and decode it perfectly as if it was written in clear. For the machine decoding obfuscation is just something like 0.1 millisecond per compilation unit and it does not affect runtime.

Enters AI. Now all your obfuscation (snake oil) is accessible to other humans with AI coding-agent style tooling and can read, decode, translate, and act upon encoded shells, window managers, web browsers, etc.

So what to do ?

Open source is security through transparency. We want everyone to tell us when something is wrong with our stack. Not hide it behind 5 bottles of beers in ASCII art (remember the Perl 99 Bottles of Beer program ?)
